The Dog Days of Summer
The tropical storm that formed off the coast of South Carolina never came close enough to give us any rain in the midlands although the coast got some. And we need the rain - this is a second year of a near-drought.

I took the Monday after the 4th off to get a 4-day weekend. And I needed it after a couple of arduous weeks at work. I finally finished my sister's birthday gift (it was in April) and picked up my niece's graduation sampler from the frame shop. Both of those got mailed that Monday.
Here's the scrapbooking piece:

This was a stamped cross stitch kit - and I hadn't done stamped cross stitch since the late 70's! I actually started this last year and put it onto the scroll frames that I use for counted cross stitch. That didn't turn out too good. So this year I dug out a hoop and and stuck in on and things went much smoother.
Here is a picture of my niece, the graduate:

Here is the sampler I did for her graduation:

I have been working on a really cute design for a Christmas gift (it's about 3/4 done) but put it down to stitch a bookmark for a co-worker's birthday. Our team at work really celebrates birthdays!!
The forecast temperatures for the new week rise into the mid to upper 90's. Well, it is the middle of summer.
The company instituted flexible working hours last year and everybody in the team wanted to work 8 to 4:30 with 1/2 hours lunch. That didn't go over too well with the boss. She said we needed coverage - which I thought was interesting since each one of us works on something different. And all the time I worked to 5:00 PM - the only phones that rang were for the people that had already left. This week I finally got to change my hours! Yippee - I love leaving at 4:30!
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
Take care & enjoy,
Florence
