Smells Like Summer!

Smells Like Summer!

After a very cool February and a couple of normal weeks at the start of March we have settled into a very warm and dry period.  We’re running 10-15 degrees above normal and we are thinking about turning our air conditioner on.  It usually is turned on for the season in late April – early May….

I have been busy putting four years of eBay sales records into order and clearing out nearly 4,000 emails in my eBay email account.  It’s taking a while to get it done – I’ve had to wait on getting paper, then ink cartridges, and then replacing a Canon printer that went toes up.  This is the second Canon printer that I’ve  had commit suicide – I’ve now using my husbands Epson printer.  This printer was actually mine about five to six years ago.

I also have been working on graduation samplers – I have two to do this year – one is done and I’m starting the second one today.

Staples is opening a Shared Financial Services Center in this area.  I’ll be working there in my preferred area – accounts payable.  I verbally accepted the job on March 2nd and this week found out I’ll actually start working April 16th.

It feels a little funny to be getting a full-time job – I have been temping for four years.

Well, it’s time to get back to work!  I’ll talk to you later!

Take care & enjoy,
Florence

Things Change Pretty Quick

Things Change Pretty Fast!

An update on our Roadrunner problems – they were solved by getting a new cable modem.  The old one made it for seven years (it was the original one that we got when we got Roadrunner) but I guess year eight was out of the question.  The new one is a lot smaller.

In a matter of a couple of weeks I go from being temp worker waiting for work to someone who will have a full-time job!  Staples (the office supply company) is opening an Shared Financial Service Center in this area and I have accepted a job there.  I’ll be working in accounts payable – but I don’t know much more than that I was offered one level higher and $10,000 a year more than I asked for (sweet!).  It’s a little disconcerting not to know whom I’ll be working with and what I’ll be doing – but I’m up for the ride!  I have a three-day temp job this week – my temp agency, understandably, doesn’t really want to me go but as I told one of my friends recently a permanent job trumps a temp job!

Temping has been pretty good to me these last four years.  I’ve worked at quite a few places and have learned a lot.  But I am most excited about getting some benefits – especially dental insurance which is the hardest one to do on your own.

The company that I spent eight years working at has gone out of business.  It was a going concern when I was kicked out four years ago and it’s hard to believe that it’s been run into the ground in such short time.

Today was a little cool but the forecast for the upcoming week looks really nice – lots of sunny skies and normal temperatures.  I’ve already seen one blooming tree and of course, a couple of dandelions…  Spring is definitely on the way!

Take care & enjoy,
Florence
