What a Week!

This week I worked 6 ½ hours of overtime. That’s the most that I’ve ever worked! I wish I could say I’m making progress at work but it still feels like I’m treading water. I like what the overtime does to my paycheck but it sure doesn’t leave much time to take care of the rest of my life.

We got a good bit of rain this weekend – thunderstorms almost every evening. Of course that cut into time on the computer… But we sure needed the rain!

This week we also ditched our landline phone. All we were getting were people wanting payment from us from companies that we don’t have accounts with and other people wanting money. We weren’t real thrilled to find out when we moved into our house that Alltel was our phone provider (we weren’t happy with them when we had them in Illinois). Then last year Alltel split up their landline and cellular services into two companies. The Alltel name went with the cellular company and the landline company became Windstream.

This all started when we tried to find out why we had long distance charges on the bill (we’ve learned to make our long distance calls on the cell phone since it doesn’t cost any extra). When we asked for a listing of phone calls we were told that the charges were just charges and taxes for long distance.

I had been using the landline and the fax modem to fax stuff (including time sheets while temping) but my need to send fax has dramatically dropped off now that I am an employee. And if the need to fax arises, I’ll just sign up for an eFax account.

The result of all that drama is that we are now cellular only.

Still trying to finish up the second graduation sampler, so I’ll sign off and go back to stitching.

Take care & enjoy,
Florence

Squirrel Catching...

Tyger caught and killed her first squirrel today. She had been chasing them them for a long while. I don't know why the squirrel slipped (maybe it was the wet grass) but he did which allowed the dog to catch him. We never thought that she would catch one - but her terrier instincts sure stepped in.

Fortunately, Tyger wasn't hurt.

We just got back from our evening walk. She sure likes them!

Finally got some rain!

After a couple of pretty dry months, the first weekend in June was rainy. Not that we’re complaining – the rain deficit through the end of May was nearly nine inches. So with the weekend rain and a heavy rain shower this afternoon we’ve knocked about an inch and a half off of the deficit.

Still very busy at work – I still have a big backlog to get through. I heard the other accounts payable supervisor tell her team that it probably would take 4 to 6 months to get caught back up. It will probably take me about that long as well – even with working 5-6 hours overtime each week. Yikes!

After this last bit of rain moves out, summertime will definitely be here – the forecast temperatures for the end of the week are mid to upper 90’s!

I’ll try to update this blog more often – but we’ll see how that goes.

Take care & enjoy,
Florence
