It's Officially Summer!

Now it's officially sumer - but it has been pretty summery in this parts since May. Actually our air conditioner was turned on the 3rd week of April this year.

Still crazy busy at work. Monday will be my 4th week in my new position. I'm not liking this new one as much as my old . At least the two to the three month of training and being trained is over. That was pretty rugged!

The freezer in our GE side-by-side had been acting up. The freezer would start melting the ice and then refreeze. When I got up at 5:00 AM Friday morning it was it total meltdown - water all of the bottom of the freezer and onto the floor. After stashing the frozen food in our stand up freezer it was time to mop up the water (just what I wanted to do first thing in the morning!). Later that morning my husband called me to tell me that the refrigator side has gone out. He stashed most of the food into the freezer for safe keeping and afterr work we went to Lowe's to look for a replacement.

Why Lowe's? They deliver the new and haul off the old. And they would deliver on Saturday morning! That was a big relief.

Here's the Whirpool refrigerator we ended up getting. Notice that it's NOT a side-by side. The stainless look cost an extra $60 so we opted for the black. It has more storage (20.9 cf vs 18.2) than the old one and it has alot of storage space on the inside of the doors. The most interesting thing is that there are no handles!

All of our applicances had been almond colored. But over the years we've move away from that (at least in the kitchen - we still have a bisque washer and almond dryer - but they are in the garage).

We've ended up with a black and white kitchen:

Refrigerator - Black
Stove - Black and White
Microwave - Black and White
Dishwasher - White
Stand Up Freezer - White.

After years of a light colored refrigator it's going to get some getting used to a dark one in that spot!

The graduation sampler for my niece was taken to the frame shop last week. It should be ready to be picked up sometime this week.

Here's the cats I stiched for my sister's birthday present. Her birthday was 3/31 and I mailed this the second week of May (better late than never) .

I have been busy trying to finish the gift for my other sister's birthday (which was 4/9). It's a stamped cross stitch piece that I actually started last year. Last year I stuck it on the scroll frame that I use for counted cross stitch. That didn't work out too well. This year when I picked it back up I put a hoop on it and that's worked out really well. I hope to get this done before the graduation sampler has to be picked up!

This blog has been a ghost site over the last few months - sorry about that - April was busy with birthdays - May was pretty emotional (only five years since Mom passed away) and of course as always, I'm putting in a bunch of overtime (I average 47 hours a week). Yep - all work and no play - that's me.

Take care and enjoy,
Florence
