New Email Service

The month of November has really flown by!   December and our anniversary are right around the corner!  That’s right, Thanksgiving this week and next week our anniversary (12/04).  29 years!  Not sure how we made it that long…

One thing I like about Yahoo! Mail Plus was getting all of my mail – including my Roadrunner mail – in one place.  But aggravating problems started popping up so I started looking for something new.  Came across Google’s Gmail and signed up.  Gmail does things a little differently and that took some getting used to but the amount of storage is great and the price (free!) suites our budget.  Gmail is not set up to accept mail from other servers, but there is a way to get my Roadrunner mail – it requires two additional programs to do it – but it can be done.  All in all, I’m pretty impressed with Gmail and set up a second Gmail account for my eBay business.

Now that I have two Gmail accounts it’s time to streamline my email addresses.  I’ll have to keep my main Roadrunner address since it is the master account, but I plan on getting rid of two Roadrunner address and the Yahoo address.  This will take a while since I have had the addresses for a while.  But that is my goal – move all of my mail to Gmail.

Finally rained earlier this week – haven’t had any at all in nearly two months.  But the last couple of days have been gorgeous – clear blue skies, cool temperature, and not too much wind.  Thanksgiving was warmer than I would have liked (it hit 70) but it has cooled off again today with temperatures reaching the mid 50’s.  But the five-day forecast shows some warm weather moving in just ahead of the next cold front.

Today was not a holiday where I’m working but I took the day off.  Got the Christmas tree and manager scene up and went through all of the Christmas boxes and ended up getting rid of four boxes of stuff – it’s amazing how quickly Christmas stuff collects.

Yesterday the Thanksgiving dinner had to wait until my father-in-law got back from the store.  He went to the store to get milk and came back with a pair of pants, two turtlenecks, and a vest.  Evidently one of the stores in the area wanted to get a jump on the today’s big retail event and was open yesterday.    I don’t think he ever got the milk….

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!  The Christmas rush is on…

Take care & enjoy,

Clemson Won!!

It was a good game last night.  EPSN had originally planned to put the Clemson-Carolina game on Pay-Per-View but evidently there were numerous screams and hollers from these parts because ESPN put in on ESPN2 here in South Carolina.

It’s a great day in the state for us Clemson fans…….

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last week I heard on the radio that it was one week to Thanksgiving.  I said yikes before remembering that I had already gotten pretty much everything for the big dinner.  I was in Walmart on Saturday the 12th when the stock person dumped a whole box of Butterball turkey breast with ribs into the freezer.  I nabbed a couple – a good thing I did since yesterday there nary a one to be found.

As we did last year, we’ll cook the turkey breast and make the stuffing and haul it over to my husband parents.  One year they served chicken – which just didn’t cut it.  The 5-7 pounds of turkey breast is just right for the four of use. <grin>

I’m not too happy with the job at the medical services place.  I have no desire to be an expense reports expert.  I know what they are and how to process them, but a steady stream of them is not a job I want to keep.  Also, I have to work the Friday after Thanksgiving – which is something I haven’t had to due since I retired from the military!

Last week I got a Gmail account and have been busy getting addresses changed.  Then I helped my husband set up his Gmail account.  Last night I set up another Gmail account for my eBay stuff.  Yep, ditching Yahoo! for Gmail.

Gmail does things just a little differently than other email programs.  It has taken a bit of time to understand how things work and it takes two additional programs to get the other pop mail (roadrunner and Yahoo!) into Gmail.

So I’ll be phasing out my Yahoo! address after seven years.  I still have my Roadrunner addresses but would really like to simply things by having only two addresses – one for personal and one for eBay.  Not quite there yet – but after a bunch of shuffling I will get there <grin>

I hope you and yours all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!  We all have things to be thankful for and it is nice from time to time to remember them.

Take care & enjoy,
Florence

Beautiful Fall Weather!

We’re having a spell of really glorious fall weather – clear blue skies, a little frost in the morning and just a little breeze.  Fall color is beginning to look really nice in these parts – yes, I know it’s November!

I spent the whole week at work this week working on expense reports.  Yikes!  That wasn’t bad for temp work but I am already close to burn out.  I have no desire to become an expert on expense reports.  So this temp to perm job will probably just be a temp.  Now, how and when to let everybody know?

When you’ve been temping as long as I have (nearly 3 years) and seen as many offices as have, it doesn’t take long to figure out if a place is going to be a match or not.  I’ve worked quite a few temp jobs that I knew that I never would to work full time and I’ve had a couple where I would have loved to go full time.

The busy of the year has already started for me – my husband’s birthday was yesterday, his mom’s birthday is Wednesday, next Saturday is the Clemson/South Carolina game that we won’t get to see since it’s on pay-per-view.  The week after it’s Thanksgiving and the week after that is our anniversary and a couple weeks after that Christmas!  Yikes!

At least the weather is nice and Clemson beat Florida State (yes – yet another Bowden bowl!)

I hope you all have a great week!!

Take care & enjoy,
