I’m So Glad It’s May!

April was a very busy month – lots of birthdays – including my own…

The team at work celebrates birthdays (we all pay into a birthday fund). My birthday was Monday and the team had pizza (since I don’t do sugar). Wednesday was another team member’s birthday and the deal is the one with the prior birthday decorates the cube and gets the cake for the next one. That didn’t leave me much time!

Not to mention that Monday and Tuesday were really busy days at work since it was quarter end. Monday I went out a ordered the cake. I also went to http://www.amercangreetings.com to print the birthday card (which I do for all team members birthdays). While I was on the site I looked at some of the other projects and ended up printing a banner and a couple of the desktop expressions. I took some of the decorations from my cube as well. The cost of decorations was just three sheets of paper and some ink.

Tuesday I was able to get the decorations up in the cube before leaving work. After another long day at work it was off to get the cake, balloons, as well as plates, napkins, and forks. Most of the balloons that other team members got were plain but I picked out three birthday balloons!

Early Wednesday morning I put the balloons in the cube – the idea is to get them high enough so other teams can see them. The cube decorations were well received - everyone seemed to be tickled at the personalized ones the I had printed out.!

I couldn’t take Monday off because of quarter end so I took Friday off. We went to Red Lobster for a late lunch and with an appetizer (shrimp cocktail for Larry and stuffed mushrooms for me) and adding snow crab legs to our entrees (fried shrimp and shrimp scampi for Larry and just shrimp scampi for me) so we ended up with a luscious feast! We don’t get there very often (a couple times a year) so we try to make the most of it!

Today was laundry day . Everything is put away except for all of the line dry stuff in the bathroom and on the drying rack. I finally got around to washing the last few sweaters so I’ll get them packed up and put into the attic. All except for the one I keep at work since I sit right under a vent. It’s late spring here and humidity is climbing….

This is the first Saturday in over a month that it hasn’t rained. We took the opportunity to grill some steak (ground round) burgers. We worked through several cuts of ground beef last year and found that the ground round makes the best tasting burger.

I’m trying very hard to finish a birthday present for my sister whose birthday is at the end of March. I still have to do one for my other sister and a graduation sampler for my niece. I hope to get the first birthday gift finished this weekend. Next it’s the graduation sampler (since it will have to go out to the frame shop) and then I’ll get a chance to work on my other sister’s gift!

Another birthday at the end of June and then it’s time to start working on Christmas which is just around the corner…

April was a petty hectic month and the last week the most hectic of all…

It’s a big relief to be in May!

Take care & enjoy,
Florence
