Summer Time Musings

The heat and humidity has set in for the next couple of months.  Our temperatures down here are right there with the temperatures in the Midwest but our heat doesn’t seem to hit the news.  Good thing we got our air conditioning system updated – it won’t be turned off until late October.

A severe thunderstorm blew through yesterday afternoon – dropped the temperature but upped the humidity.  The storm knocked a branch out of one of our maple trees and stripped some branch ends off of the pine tree across the street.  Not complaining about the rain though – our spring was dry.

My husband was getting ready to re-install Windows on his computer so he moved all files to his second hard drive to get ready for the re-install.  Only problem was – the re-install didn’t work – yep, another hard drive hit the dust.

I set up a user account for him so he could check his email on my computer.  All I have on his computer is different browser (don’t want to mess those saved passwords up) but I get too many complaints about all of the “eye candy” on my systems -I use Webshots for my screensaver and desktop wallpaper.  I also use Object Dock, which gives my Mac-like docks on my Windows machine.  I have the tabbed dock on the bottom of the screen and another on the right side of the screen with a clock, calendar, and weather docklets.

I’ve tried other screensavers but always come back to Webshots.  It’s just a collection of pictures and it’s very easy to add your own pictures.  I don’t always run the screensaver but I have Webshots change my desktop wallpaper every 15 minutes.  I’ve been collecting Webshot pictures since 1999 so I cycle through the through the pictures depending on the season.  Right it’s lots of flowers and beaches.  That’s right – summery stuff.

After living here in the South for over a decade, you’d think I’d be used to seeing back to school sales in July (schools in this area head back the first week of August).  But up north where I went to school – school never started until after Labor Day.  I guess I’ll never get rid of the Yankee in me!

Take care & enjoy,
Florence
